Corner Brook, NL – February 27, 2024
In recognition of her exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing the cruise industry in Newfoundland and Labrador, Jackie Chow has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Cruise Vision Award. The announcement was made by Christa Norman, vice-chair of the Cruise Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, who praised Jackie for her remarkable dedication and visionary approach that has propelled the industry forward.
Jackie Chow’s impact on the cruise sector has been nothing short of transformative. Since assuming the role of CEO at the Corner Brook Port Corporation in 2005, she has demonstrated unparalleled passion and perseverance, driving growth and prosperity even in the face of challenges. Her strategic initiatives have not only elevated Corner Brook as the premier cruise port in the province but have also had a ripple effect, leading to development in other ports and destinations.
Under Jackie’s leadership, the Port of Corner Brook has seen remarkable growth, with an anticipated 37 cruise ship calls expected this season, a substantial increase from the earlier years. Her strategic initiatives and proactive engagement with cruise lines have been instrumental in this success. Jackie’s efforts extend beyond her professional duties, as she actively advocates for the province’s interests in regulatory matters with Transport Canada and the Canada Border Services Agency.
“Jackie Chow is not just a CEO; she’s an industry leader with an unwavering passion and perseverance to drive the cruise industry forward despite the challenges faced over the past few years,” noted Dennis Bruce, highlighting Jackie’s dedication to regional economic development through cruise marketing.

The success of this initiative, with over 20,000 passengers enjoying rides on the train in its inaugural season, reflects Jackie’s dedication to enhancing visitor experiences and promoting the city’s rich culture.
Moreover, Jackie’s forward-thinking approach to addressing capacity challenges has been crucial in ensuring the long-term sustainability of Newfoundland and Labrador’s niche ports. By introducing tender operations at the Port of Corner Brook and exploring the feasibility of constructing a second berth, she has positioned the region as a desirable destination for cruise lines while fostering economic growth.
