Corner Brook Port Corporation Commemorates 20th Anniversary

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Corner Brook, NL — June 28, 2024 — The Corner Brook Port Corporation is proud to announce a milestone celebration marking 20 years since its divestiture from Transport Canada to an independent marine port. On Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Port of Corner Brook invites the community to join in festivities at the Cruise Dock located at 11 Riverside Drive.

This commemorative event will showcase the port’s pivotal role in regional maritime industry and its significant contributions to community development over the past two decades. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the essence of a cruise passenger’s journey with activities including exploring a vibrant vendor market, enjoying a delicious BBQ, and capturing memorable moments with interactive photo opportunities.

A highlight of the celebration will be the official unveiling of an impressive 80-foot mural on the port’s waterfront, a testament to the corporation’s ongoing commitment to cultural enrichment and community engagement. The mural, crafted by local artists Kelsey Street and Marshall Borland, is part of the port’s continuous enhancement projects aimed at enriching the visitor experience.

“We are thrilled to commemorate this important milestone with the community,” said Jackie Chow, Chief Executive Officer of the Corner Brook Port Corporation. “This event not only celebrates our 20 years of operational independence but also highlights the integral role of the Port of Corner Brook in regional connectivity and economic vitality.”

Live musical entertainment throughout the day will enhance the festivities, creating a lively atmosphere for families and visitors to enjoy. The celebration marks the first of two planned community events, aimed at engaging the public, our regional stakeholders and highlighting significant moments in the port’s history.

Join us as we celebrate 20 years of maritime independence and look forward to a promising future for the Port of Corner Brook.
